They say two is a company
And three is a crowd.
There are three at the table
Of the third I’m not proud.
I couldn’t erase him
And you couldn’t accept him.
The chances are slim
That we’llΒ soon be without him.
I’m not refusing
To forget the thing that was.
I simply don’t know how and
You continue to make a fuss.
Yesterday’s mystery,
Over now-history.
Transformed into a memory
That just won’t let us be.
Give me time,
All I ask is for time.
Time will heal
What the past unreeled.
Then maybe I’ll love you,
More than IΒ now am able.
One dayΒ it’ll just be two,
Dining at this table.
The illusions of the past
May dissolve into thin air.
May notΒ be so fast
But we’ll start from there.
Don’t ask for too much,
I’ve only so much to give.
Let’s ignore the third wheel on my mind.
Let’s live.
Just give me time,
All I ask is for time.
With time we may be
Everything you’ve ever dreamt of for you and me…
